Elopement FAQs
What elopement extras do you provide that set you apart?
I think a great example of how I would describe what sets me apart would be to tell you a story about an elopement I shot this year (2024). Early this year I had a Bride-to-Be reach out and explain to me that she and her Fiance were a young couple from Texas and wanted nothing more than to get married in the mountains, in Wyoming. I loved their story from the very start and we exchanged information. We began texting back and forth about potential locations, laws & regulations and what resources we might need to make this day come together perfectly. Originally she had been partial to the Tetons for obvious reasons, but due to regulatory limits on elopements with guests, we were out of luck. I did have a few tricks up my sleeve though, and reassured her that I could get her those striking mountain views without the red tape that comes along with national park event planning. I scouted a location in a much more secluded area and planned their ceremony for just before the sun dropped behind the beautiful mountains that lined their backdrop. It was about an hour drive from anywhere civilized and I'm pretty sure they were skeptical of me about 40 mins into our drive, but they kept the faith and were blown away when we rounded the last corner and the mountains came into view, cutting the skies in every direction with rugged peaks and a winding river down below. I helped them set up their mobile officiant (grandpa on an ipad, which was the sweetest thing). We moved everyone into place, got our sweet bride dressed in a conveniently placed public restroom and then did an emotional first look with her father. For the ceremony I positioned them so there would be mountains in every direction during their vows and then we did a 1.5 hour portrait session after. It was a truly breathtaking experience for everyone involved, especially me, as it was that kind of moment I've always dreamt of as a photographer. Food options were scarce on a Sunday in tiny town Wyoming, but I called ahead and had some of the best local pizza ever ready for them before we had headed up the mountain. I tried to make everything as easy and smooth as possible and I do try to follow that theme in all of my elopements. I am as involved or as not involved as you need me to be. I can help with every single detail, or I can step back and allow you to plan your own special day and again, I am perfectly fine with either option.
How long will it take to get my album?
My updated turnaround time will always be in your contract, but on average it takes me anywhere from 6-8 weeks to turn in a full wedding album. This can range from as short as 4 weeks to as long as 10 weeks, it just depends on my workload and my work-life balance while being full time mom to my two year old daughter. I DO always provide you with a sneak peek usually within 48 hours of your day, unless of course there is extended travel or other circumstances that may prevent me from uploading quickly.. but 48 hours is the goal. You are always welcome to reach out and ask questions, but please do keep in mind that I do NOT offer rush services on wedding albums, as I genuinely need all of the time I take to edit them each by hand and comb through every important moment.
Can I have the RAW files?
NO. Not only no, but heck no. You wouldn't ask a chef for raw steak or frozen shrimp, right? Please don't ask any photographer for RAW files, as RAW files are not an accurate representation of our work, individual artistry/style and providing them would basically negate the entire purpose for choosing a professional photographer. Choose us because you fall in love with our work and with us as professionals, not just because we carry fancy equipment. :)
Can you make me look skinnier?
This is another resounding NO. I do NOT do body edits, at all, ever. I'm a huge advocate for every person's real, natural beauty being portrayed true to life. I do minor retouching like removal of obvious blemishes/cuts when possible, flyaway hairs that are very distracting, and small stains when possible. If you have specific angles you prefer to be photographed at, just let me know! I know we all have a "good side" and I will do my very best to work with you in real time while we shoot in regards to any major insecurities.
Do you assist with elopement planning?
I certainly can! When you book with me you get unlimited consultation via my personal cell, email and instant messaging. I can help with as much or as little as you need. I can help you find your location, florals, hair & makeup, food, places to stay, permits/information and really anything else you might need.
Will we meet you before our wedding day?
I do suggest doing an engagement session with me so we can all familiarize with each other, you can learn my style in posed/unposed directions and so I can learn more about your story but I do know that sometimes engagement sessions aren't possible if you are not local so I do offer google meet-meetings as well as phone calls.
