Wedding FAQs
What wedding day extras do you provide that set you apart?
I love this question. I would say something that sets me apart is that I don't feel like I've done my job well enough if we aren't great friends by the time we say goodbye at the end of your big day. By this I mean I don't just show up, stand there and take posed photos. I make sure to be your front-line person for chaos management, the person to whisk you away for that much needed break from "peopling", the one who isn't afraid to set boundaries and handle a sassy MIL or SIL, and yes, I will absolutely hold your dress while you pee. I'll also be there for the small moments too, the ones we might not think to put on your shot list. The moments where your Dad cries when he sees you for the first time, or that cute moment when Grandma and Grandpa are standing back holding hands while admiring the generations of family they've built. And of course, the moments when your favorite groomsmen has had too much to drink and decides to do the worm (and fails) on the dance floor. I'm your quiet wedding day shadow, sometimes your entertainment (when I'm not paying attention during your golden hour shots and fall over backwards), your unofficial coordinator of all things emergency management, and the person who you absolutely cannot shock, just make sure I'm ready if you're going to try--hahah.
How long will it take to get my wedding album?
My updated turnaround time will always be in your contract, but on average it takes me anywhere from 6-8 weeks to turn in a full wedding album. This can range from as short as 4 weeks to as long as 10 weeks, it just depends on my workload and my work-life balance while being full time mom to my two year old daughter. I DO always provide you with a sneak peek usually within 48 hours of your wedding day, unless of course there is extended travel or other circumstances that may prevent me from uploading quickly.. but 48 hours is the goal. You are always welcome to reach out and ask questions, but please do keep in mind that I do NOT offer rush services on wedding albums, as I genuinely need all of the time I take to edit them each by hand and comb through every important moment.
Can I have the RAW files?
NO. Not only no, but heck no. You wouldn't ask a chef for raw steak or frozen shrimp, right? Please don't ask any photographer for RAW files, as RAW files are not an accurate representation of our work, individual artistry/style and providing them would basically negate the entire purpose for choosing a professional photographer. Choose us because you fall in love with our work and with us as professionals, not just because we carry fancy equipment. :)
Can you make me look skinnier?
This is another resounding NO. I do NOT do body edits, at all, ever. I'm a huge advocate for every person's real, natural beauty being portrayed true to life. I do minor retouching like removal of obvious blemishes/cuts when possible, flyaway hairs that are very distracting, and small stains when possible. If you have specific angles you prefer to be photographed at, just let me know! I know we all have a "good side" and I will do my very best to work with you in real time while we shoot in regards to any major insecurities.
Do you assist with wedding day planning?
I certainly can! When you book with me you get unlimited consultation via my personal cell, email and instant messaging. I have worked weddings where I sat back and worked alongside fantastic wedding planners, and I have worked weddings in which I created a custom timeline with the bride and groom beforehand, and I am honestly fine with either scenario. At this point I have spent enough time shooting weddings that I do have a pretty good concept of how they should flow, so if you do need assistance with this don't hesitate to ask. I do want to add that I lean toward the more laid back, less "type A wedding photographer" style, and I will absolutely help you create/stick to a timeline if you so wish, but if you are hoping for a more laid back day without strict timeline enforcement I am totally fine with that as well. It's your day and it should feel that way.
Will we meet you before our wedding day?
I do suggest doing an engagement session with me (included in every wedding package booked) so we can all familiarize with each other, you can learn my style in posed/unposed directions and so I can learn more about your story but I do know that sometimes engagement sessions aren't possible if you are not local so I do offer google meet-meetings as well as phone calls. If you are local I do prefer to also do an in-person breakfast/lunch together in your wedding month, just so we can go over all of your final details and priorities leading up to your big day.
Can we do our wedding portraits on a different day?
YES!!! You can absolutely schedule a private wedding portrait session either before or after your actual wedding day. I wish more people would know that this is an option, because so often it feels like I am pulling you away for golden hour portraits just when the party is getting started and we end up feeling very rushed. Scheduling them a different day not only gives you a more relaxed timeline for photos, but it also allows you to pick any location your heart desires for your wedding portraits which often isn't possible on your big day. In addition this you get a completely private, intimate couple's session for your portraits, free of any distractions and interruptions. If you're on the fence, just do it. You WILL NOT regret it :)
Do you do Church weddings?
Absolutely. If you are hoping for a religious ceremony just let me know ahead of time so I can make sure to familiarize myself with the church and its' staff to find out any requirements they may need of me.
